Volcanic Tablelands : The Volcanic Tablelands were created when the volcano at what is now Long Valley Caldera exploded 770,000 years ago. Debris consisting of boulders bigger than my car and volcanic ash were blown through the air, finally stopping just a mile short of where the town of Bishop is now located. It is amazing. Surrounded by the White Mountains on the east side and the Sierras on the left, there are miles and miles of scrub and no trees. The trees in the photos are immediately south and west of the Tablelands.

Skagit Valley, Washington : Skagit Valley was settled by Dutch immigrants years ago; everything from the architecture to the flowers make it seem like a foreign country. I could NOT stop taking photos of the tulips. These are only 30 of the approximately 300 photos I took. The first day was cold, rainy, raw and the tulips loved it (look for photos of tulips with raindrops), I on the other hand was looking forward to the wood stove and hot food! The second day was sunny and windy - hard to get a crisp shot. I overheard the plans for the fields two days after I was there: cut all the blooms off to give more strength to the bulbs. So glad I captured them.

Rock Creek Lake : Visited Rock Creek Lake in November, 2012. Didn't have my boots, so couldn't hike the trailhead, plus I had just eaten a meatloaf sandwich. The multitudinous bear warnings made me turn back, figured my meatloaf breath would bring them running toward me.

Four-in-Hand : These photos were taken one evening while mountain biking. Fair Hill, Maryland was getting ready for the CCI***, October 2011 (Cross Country International, 3 star event for upcoming Olympic hopefuls and well-trained horses from around the world). This four-in-hand team was just visiting, taking advantage of the well-groomed meadows of beautiful rolling countryside.
